1. Upon check-in at a Hyatt hotel or resort, a Hyatt Gold Passport member may choose one of the following: (a) Hyatt Gold Passport points, (b) Airline miles in one of the participating airline programs or (c) Amtrak Guest Rewards points. The details regarding Airline miles or Amtrak Guest Rewards points are discussed later in these Terms and Conditions.
2. To receive Hyatt Gold Passport points, member must be a registered guest staying at Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, Hyatt Place, Hyatt Summerfield Suites or Hyatt Vacation Club Resort (effective June 01, 2009) at the time eligible charges are incurred, unless otherwise specifically stated as part of a promotion or special offer and pay an Eligible Rate. Charges for stays prior to member's enrollment in Hyatt Gold Passport will not be eligible for retroactive credit.
3. In order for a Hyatt Gold Passport member to receive Hyatt Gold Passport points, the bill for eligible charges must be in that member's name and member must personally pay for all charges. A member's account number cannot be used by anyone else in order to accrue Hyatt Gold Passport points, benefits, promotion credits or upgraded membership status.
4. If a member chooses to receive Hyatt Gold Passport points at check-in, such member will earn five Hyatt Gold Passport points for each whole U.S. dollar or U.S. dollar equivalent spent by the member on Eligible Rates. An "Eligible Rate" is any hotel published room rate, including, but not limited to, rates found on Hyatt websites, Hyatt Daily Rate, volume, AAA and senior citizen rates, etc. "Ineligible Rates" are discounted rates, including, but not limited to, any free night stays, Internet wholesale rates (such as priceline.com, hotels.com, etc.), traditional wholesale rates (such as GOGO Worldwide Vacations, Pleasant Holidays, etc.), private rates (such as travelscape), airline crew rates, airline employee rates, travel agency employee rates, Club at the Hyatt discount certificate stays, Hyatt Vacation Club stays, Hyatt employee or employee family discount rates, airline interrupted-trip vouchers or contracted rooms (a contracted room is a room that has been reserved pursuant to a written and executed agreement between a hotel and a corporation, government agency or individual for a negotiated room rate in exchange for an agreed upon number of rooms to be rented for an extended period of time). Hyatt Gold Passport points awarded for stays at a Hyatt hotel or resort outside the U.S. are based on local currency converted to U.S. dollars.
5. When booking pre-paid vacation packages through a traditional wholesaler at Hyatt hotels and resorts in the U.S., Canada or the Caribbean, member will receive 500 Hyatt Gold Passport bonus points for each night of the stay in lieu of points for the packaged room rate and any pre-purchased meals, services or activities. These points will not be eligible for an additional tier bonus; however, member will receive stay credit toward tier status and promotions. These points will not be earned for stays at Hyatt Place or Hyatt Summerfield Suites. A member will also receive five Hyatt Gold Passport points for every eligible U.S. dollar spent for Eligible Incidental Charges not included in the pre-paid package.
6. Hyatt Gold Passport members may receive Hyatt Gold Passport points on Eligible Incidental Charges, even when paying Ineligible Rates. Five Hyatt Gold Passport points will be awarded for each whole U.S. dollar or U.S. dollar equivalent, paid by a member for Eligible Incidental Charges that are charged to the member's room. "Eligible Incidental Charges" vary on a hotel-by-hotel basis, but generally include food, beverage and lounge expenditures (except at outlets not operated by the hotel) and other charges such as laundry, valet and telephone. Hyatt Gold Passport points will not be awarded on alcoholic beverage purchases in certain jurisdictions. Hyatt Gold Passport points are not awarded for retail outlet charges, service charges, taxes, casino charges, incentive travel awards, gratuities, pay-per-view in-room movies, gift certificates/gift cards, or vouchers, unless specified in a specific promotion or for services provided by outside vendors. Hyatt Gold Passport points will not be awarded for taxes or function room charges charged to member's room. Hyatt Gold Passport points will not be awarded for incidentals or Hyatt hotel food and beverage charges in conjunction with a Hyatt Vacation Club stay.
7. Hyatt Gold Passport members may not earn any Hyatt Gold Passport points on Ineligible Stays. An "Ineligible Stay" includes Villa rentals.
8. Hyatt Gold Passport members may receive Hyatt Gold Passport points for up to three rooms (member's room and two additional rooms). Member must be a registered guest, occupy at least one of the rooms and pay for all three. Only the room occupied by the member will count toward tier status, benefits and current Hyatt Gold Passport promotions. The occupant of the second or third room may not receive Hyatt Gold Passport points, airline miles or Amtrak Guest Rewards points, either at time of stay or retroactively.
9. When attending a meeting or convention, all charges made by members that are placed on a group master account to be paid by an organization, convention, association or group will not be eligible for Hyatt Gold Passport points. Only Hyatt Gold Passport points for individual Eligible Incidental Charges which the member personally pays or which are direct billed back to member's company for payment are eligible for Hyatt Gold Passport points. Direct billing may not be available in some locations. When sharing accommodations with other Hyatt Gold Passport members, each member will earn Hyatt Gold Passport points on the eligible portion of the bill for which they personally pay.
